Originally this was a Congregational meeting hall, reading room and private school and later an educational and entertainment venue. It was so-called because it opened in August 1887 during Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. Above the bay window can be seen a circular terra cotta bas relief of Queen Victoria. Since 2010 both Victoria Hall and the adjacent St John’s United Reformed Church have been developed into an activity centre for young people, called St John’s Centre.
