Commissioned by J Sainsbury plc and unveiled when their new supermarket opened in June 1976, this wall relief is the work of sculptors Joyce and Henry Collins. The concrete sculpture consists of three arched panels set into the north exterior wall of Sainsbury’s supermarket in Buckhurst Place. Within each panel there are a series of variable sized sculptural reliefs, some coloured, relating to local historical events, industry and landmarks. The sculptors’ signature may be seen in the bottom right of the third panel closest to the supermarket’s goods entrance.
