On 21st August 2015, Bexhill Rotary Club President, Raouf Oderuth, officially unveiled the club’s new coin collector. It has been placed in the newly refurbished area of the Marina known as the Marina Court Garden. The coin collector had been designed by Jordan Whitewood-Neal and Michael Whiting to look like the Rotary Club logo and was built by Rotarian Hugh Allen. It is made of wood and measures 1.12m in diameter. The inscription on the plaque reads: “ROTARY IN BEXHILL COLLECTING FOR LOCAL CHARITIES. PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY. THANK YOU”.
The Coin Collector replaced the Rotary’s Wishing Well which stood on West Parade close to the kiosk. It was removed when the promenade was redeveloped during 2010 / 2011. A plaque on the crossbar of the Wishing Well read “75th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF ROTARY 23-2-80. THROW A WELL-WISHING COIN IN OUR WISHING WELL. THANK YOU! There was also a small Rotary Club logo on the plaque.
