(42) Peace Pole, Galley Hill

Peace Pole, Galley Hill. Photo by Paul Wright, May 2017.

During May 2017 this wooden Peace Pole was planted near the top of Galley Hill. It stands about nine feet tall and the main message of the pole is May Peace Prevail On Earth and this is recorded on all four sides of the pole in different languages including French, Arabic and English. So far, there are Peace Poles in nearly every country on earth amounting to more than 200,000. There is even one on the top of Mount Everest. The idea of these poles is to act as a visual aid to remind people that we have a common wish for peace no matter how different we all are. They are a recognized international symbol of unity in diversity and world peace. For more information please visit www.bexhillpeacepoleproject.com
