During 2018 a Tommie’s memorial was erected on the lawn adjacent to the war memorial as part of the town’s commemoration of the centenary of the ending of First World War. The design used is similar to that adopted around the country and consisted of life-size wire figures of three British soldiers painted in black and each holding a red poppy. On the south-facing low wall surrounding the lawn are three plaques which read.
(to the east) – THE BEXHILL-ON-SEA TOMMY MEMORIAL erected November 2018. “WE WILL REMEMBER THEM”.
(in the middle) – Dedicated to those brave men and women who have served in our Armed Forces since the First World War. Donated by the members of the Bexhill-on-Sea and District Veterans Association.
(to the west) – Three Tommy memorial figures were donated by the residents and businesses of Bexhill to commemorate the end of WW1 and to honour all those who have given their lives or served this country in all wars and conflicts.
